Mariam Awaisi

Mariam Awaisi is currently a Master’s candidate at the London School of Economics, where she is pursuing a degree in International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management. Previously, she served as Program Officer at Critical Connections - a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to building resilient communities - and, prior to that, was an Editorial and Marketing Associate at a marketing, media, and communications firm in New York.

Theoretical Trajectories: Emotion, Agency, and Power

In many disciplines, early literature often dismissed women’s prayer rituals as superstitions and magic. In recent years much of what has been studied on the subject of contemporary prayer centers on health and psychology, examining questions such as the impact of prayer on women’s emotional well-being, rehabilitation, coping capabilities, and medical conditions such as cancer.
